Windows vs Mac vs Linux - which one is best for you?🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
When you want to buy a laptop/computer a very big question arises that is, which operating system is best for you because nowadays there are a lot of operating system in market.
But in this post will only discuss about windows, Mac and Linux because these 3 are mostly used operating system. A survey took place on which we found that Windows are used by 76.56% user, Mac is used by 9.6% user and Linux is used by only 1.93% user and 11.91% users use all other operating system. This data shows that Windows is most popular operating system among these three. But for finding the operating system which one is for you we have to compare their different factors.
Windows:
Windows is owned by Microsoft company whose owner is Bill gates. There are a lot of version of Windows that are Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and it's latest version is Windows 10.
Advantages:-
1)User's friendly:- If you are using computer/laptop first time, Windows is the best option because it is easy to use.
2) Support for all hardware:- As windows OS is used by 95% of users so most of the hardware vendors make drivers for windows.
3). Backwards compatibility:- If you're currently using an older version of Windows and need something more up to date, but you don't want to loose the use of some older programs that are only available for Windows and are critical to your business needs, the chances are good (although not a certainty) that those programs will also work with a newer version of Windows.
Disadvantages:
1). Cost:- It is costly. You have to spend approx $50 for windows 7 in year 2021.
2). Security:- It is least secure among these three operating system.
3). Rebooting a system:- If your system becomes slow in performance then you have to reboot it. If you load many programs at the same time then your system slows down and hangs up. The only solution for this is to reboot.
Mac:
Mac is developed by American computer company Apple Inc. It is the second most used operating system. Snow leopard, Catalina, Mac OS X's, Sierra are some famous versions of Mac. Latest version of Mac is Big Sur.
Advantages:
1). Own softwares:- Macs come with their own very good office applications (e.g. Pages, KeyNote.
2). Battery:- The battery timing of mac laptops is also longer. As Apple makes both hardware and software so it’s hardware communication is very efficient and it improves performance.
3). Security:-As macOS is the second most used operating system and has less number of active users so it has fewer virus attacks also. The other reason of virus safety is its UNIX relationship which is more secure than Windows OS
Disadvantages:
1). Cost:- It is costly than Windows OS. Minimum cost of Mac Pc is $1000 and it is the cheapest cost of Mac, if you want a good pc you need to spend more.
2). Less hardware used:-The new version of macOS computer supports less USB ports and they also not shipped with CD/DVD writer.
3). Customisation:-Not entirely open source so can’t modify much of the operating system, if desired.
Linux:
Linux is created by software engineer Linux torvalds, it comes with a lot of versions which help users to select the desired version according to their requirements. Some most common versions of linux are Ubuntu, debian, kali Linux, fedora, mint. There are some more versions also but they are not much popular. The latest version of Linux is Linux kernel and kali Linux is very famous version, kali Linux is known as hackers paradise because there are many most useful tools that can easily used by hackers.
Advantages:-
1). Cost:- It is an open source software this means you can download linux in free of cost.
2). Security:- Linux requires authorization from the root, or superuser, in the form of a password. Unless the password is known and used, nothing will run – not even a virus! This provides an added benefit of eliminating the need for anti-virus software.
3). Customisation:- Linux is one of the most customizable operating systems out there. Linux is so customizable you can strip down a Linux operating system down to 50 Megabytes and still be fully functional.
Disadvantages:-
1). Application software does not work:- Some software does not work in linux that works in Windows like Internet explorer, Microsoft, itunes does not work in linux
2). Suitability:- It does not provide easy tools for doing work easily for a normal user. Every times you require code to run your work that makes it irritating sometimes.
3). Hardware drivers:-One of the issues that most Linux users face is that some hardware drivers are not available for Linux. Hardware companies prefer to make drivers for windows or mac because they have more users as compared to Linux.
